You’re going to walk through a typical day in your ideal life. You aren’t describing a holiday or special event; this is an average, ordinary day, a workday – but an ideal average, ordinary workday.
This is a fantasy, so please cut loose! There are no restrictions! If you want to have the snow-capped mountains in your backyard, the Mediterranean Sea in the front yard, and Russell Crow as your butler, then go for it! The more fantastic, the better!
Describe what you see in your mind’s eye, and avoid thinking about your description of your ideal day. Simply sit back and describe what comes up as you read each question, rather than making a story about it.
Begin by waking up in the morning. What is the first thing you see? What does your ceiling look like? Your bed covers, if any? What kind of room or house are you in? What part of the globe? Can you tell what the weather’s like? Do you hear anything? Are there windows in this room? Are you alone? What can you smell? What do you see in the room around you? Is the sun up? Can you tell what time it is? What are you excited about in this day?
What do you do first? Describe the events of your day as they unfold.
Tell about breakfast, getting dressed, whether you’re talking or reading or meditating or feeding the bird. Tell about the contents of your closets.
See and describe how you spend your time, what you’re doing, where you do it, how you get there (if you leave home) and so on. Are you spending your time with others, or alone? A group of people you’re familiar with? Or just one or two close associates/loved ones? Do you interact with others during the day? If so, is it by phone, in person, or otherwise? Is it in a building or outdoors? Do you have a work space? What does it look like, if so? Do you travel or are you stationary? Do you create, give instructions to others, follow instructions from others? Do you work with tangible products or is it service-based, or a combination? Do you interact with people directly, or are you behind the scenes in a support role? What skills and talents are you using?
Do you enjoy a lunch? If so, where do you go and what do you eat? Who do you eat with, or are you enjoying solitude? Give as much detail as possible, right up to the time you turn off the lights and close your eyes.
